Acorn 180 programming code Ed

I am hoping someone may be able to help me with a code Ed when programming, what does it mean as I am unable to find any info.

encoder drive fault. pcb not getting signal from encoder, check the wiring loom, make sure the encoder is mounted properly and is clean, if that fails set fire to and deny everything!
